Derails for sidings

Video showing how this derail works

Derails are installed on sidings to keep parked cars from rolling onto the mainline.

This derail is set to allow cars to roll in and out of this siding with no issue.  This is a bi-direction derail, which means it will derail cars on this track from either direction.

This is the same bi-directional derail and it is now set to derail a car on this track from either direction.

This is a more typical derail that is set to derail a car that could roll out of the siding to the mainline.  This is a one direction derail although I would expect a likely derailment if a car were to hit this in either direction.

The function of this model is easily seen in this 30 second YouTube video.

This derail is easily moved in either direction with a typical skewer stick that we often use for uncoupling cars.

This derail is now set to the open position that allows cars or traffic to move through this location in either direction.
